HCS SB 1084 -- HEALTH CARE FOR UNINSURED CHILDREN SPONSOR: Gibbons (Scharnhorst) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Health Care Policy by a vote of 10 to 0. This substitute extends the expiration date of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIPs) established by the Department of Social Services to pay for health care for uninsured children from July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2008. The expiration date of the financial assistance for Consumer-directed Personal Care Services Program is extended from June 30, 2006, to June 30, 2008. The substitute contains an emergency clause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say the bill is necessary to extend the sunset of the Healthcare for Uninsured Children Program to correspond with the sunset date for Missouri's Medicaid Program.
